I brought a Bossnut and then I pimped it too.

No, this is not the same post as this gloriously OTT Bossnut makeover.

What can I say about the Bossnut? My first thought upon seeing it in Go Outdoors was, great value bike, amazing reviews, but it’s not exactly the Margot Robbie of mountain bikes is it?  Well not quite that, but it was along those lines. I was looking at what I call V1.2, V1.1 was more like the Elephant Man. Even though it wasn’t Margot I still brought one.

By the way, The Margot Robbie Award imho goes to this or this.

I pimped my Bossnut but I didn’t spray the frame, i’m not ashamed of my Bossnut and didn’t want to hide it even though the frame is...well, pretty basic and the rear end is made out of small girders! No amount of paint can really hide that. (I love the painted one though). I have to say the front end on my version looks good though, the welds seem to have been filed down or the frame is bonded, not sure, it looks quite neat though.

Post not finished...
 My pimped Calibre Bossnut
Hope E4 brakes customised with brake levers, reservoir covers, Goodridge blue braided cables. Awesome stopping power and adjustability.
The bike has NS Bikes lemon lime rims, front hub and handlebar. One of the reasons for the NS parts is I was originally thinking of buying a Snabb frame. They colour matched as well, sort of.

Purple, blue, green, yellow and red, why not? I didn't have much choice about the red!
Uberbike titanium rotor bolts
The new Triple B comes with thru axle, not this QR, which is good

Industry Nine Matchstix multi-tool axle, very cool but very expensive!

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room...Those rims. The first time I saw the NS Bikes lemon lime hub it was love at first sight! I only wanted the hub though and was going to lace it with some black rims, however it was at the time when NS seemed to be discontinuing the lemon lime range and I couldn't get the hub separately, only as a pre-built wheel, so I thought what the hell, go for it. NS did not make the hub at all for a QR wheel so I brought a rim and a hope hub. I kind of like the combination of different hubs.

I did not have much information on the NS rims, not many reviews online. I figured a company who built its reputation on dirt jumping and slopestyle should know how to build a decent rim! I haven’t ridden too much since I got them but rode them at Farmer John’s, did a few reasonably big drops and all is good!

I’m not sure about them though, sometimes I think they are very cool and then I think what I have done! I suppose at the end of the day they weren’t massively expensive and can replaced fairly easily.

obably will be completely black, as black as the soul of Beelzebub himself...well, I may have a bit of red on there, just to go with the devil theme, but not black and gold, definitely not that...although this is pretty nice...

The purple and blue theme for the Bossnut came from favourite retro bike, my Fisher 1994 Hoo Koo E Koo, I loved that bike...until someone nicked it. Groupsets were very shiny in those days and bar ends were big, literally.

Some more of my retro bikes...
